Frequently Asked Questions - ECE Apprenticeship Program

Program Overview

What is the ECE Apprenticeship Program?

The Early Education Career Institute (EECI) ECE Apprenticeship Program is a US Department of Labor registered apprenticeship that combines hands-on training with classroom instruction to prepare you for a rewarding career in early childhood education. You'll earn your Child Development Associate (CDA) credential while gaining real-world experience at local childcare centers and homes.

How is this different from other training programs?

Our program offers a unique triple benefit: you'll earn a nationally recognized CDA credential, receive 21 transferable college credits, AND complete a federally registered apprenticeship. This combination gives you immediate job readiness plus a foundation for continued education - all in one comprehensive program.

Is the program nationally recognized?

Yes! EECI is recognized by the US Department of Labor and acknowledged by four college boards and systems. Our program meets US Department of Education standards and follows NAEYC professional standard frameworks, ensuring your credentials are valued by employers nationwide.

Program Structure & Timeline

How long does the apprenticeship take to complete?

Most apprentices complete the program in approximately 6 months. The program includes 16 instructor-led modules that can be taken face-to-face, online, or through virtual live instruction, depending on your schedule and learning preferences.

What does the training schedule look like?

We offer flexible scheduling options:

  • Face-to-face training: Intensive 3-5 day sessions

  • Virtual live classes: Small class sizes (10 students maximum) with live instructor interaction

  • Online modules: Self-paced learning with instructor support

All formats are designed to accommodate working adults and busy schedules.

What's included in the 16 modules?

Our curriculum covers all essential areas of early childhood education, from child development and learning environments to health, safety, and family engagement. Each module is taught by instructors who hold AA degrees in Early Childhood Education, ensuring you receive expert guidance throughout your journey.

Credentials & Career Outcomes

What is the CDA credential?
